Chamberlain MyQ Garage Universal Smartphone Garage Door Controller – Convenient and will give you peace of mind that you did in fact close your garage door! I’m so excited to review this product from Chamberlain. You can operate your garage door by using your smartphone; simply open the Chamberlain MyQ app, tap the garage icon and your garage can be opened and closed. I have downloaded the app on my iPhone 5 and Susannah’s Samsung Galaxy S3 and it works like a charm on both phones. You've probably experienced travelling away from home and several minutes later you're wondering if you remembered to close your garage door. Now you can simply open your MyQ app and see if your garage door is open or closed! It even tells me how long it has been closed.
My wife and I used to share a remote control. I often forgot to return the remote control in her car. When she got home, she would honk her horn in hopes that I heard it so I could open the garage for her. This would require me to stop what I was doing, walk to the garage, and press the button on the garage wall. Furthermore, if I happened to be away from home, she would have to use the keypad to open the garage door. This would require her to get out of her car, operate the keypad, get back in her car and park it. As you can see, this got old quick!
You’re probably thinking, “Why don’t you get two remotes?” I have two remotes that came with the garage door opener, but once I got one synced, the other would go out of sync. I went as far as to purchase another one from Sears, but the same issue occurred. For the life of me, I cannot successfully get both remotes to sync at the same time! Finally, I just gave up and made do with one remote. With Chamberlain MyQ, those days are over! In addition, if your neighbor needs to borrow a tool when you’re not home, open and close the garage with your app. As long as you have Wi-Fi or cell phone connection, you’ll be able to operate your garage even if you’re in another city or state!
Installation of the Chamberlain MyQ is simple. All you need to mount is the MyQ Wi-Fi Hub and the MyQ Garage Door Sensor in your garage. Also, if you get Wi-Fi in your garage, know how to setup Bluetooth, can download apps on your phone, and operate a screwdriver you won’t have any issues. In your garage, you’ll need to install the MyQ Wi-Fi Hub Mount near the garage door opening and plug it into an outlet. Mounting the MyQ door sensor was easy and I secured it on my garage door with double sided tape. After that, all I needed to do was download the MyQ app and followed the instructions on the app. Once the garage door is operational, you can set up alerts on your phone informing you if your garage has been opened or closed. You can have it sent over e-mail or the app can alarm you.
