Ride Specialized this summer!

Sample products were provided to me for this review from Specialized.  All opinions are my own.

Specialized Bikes - Summer Vacation is vastly approaching!  There's no perfect time to enjoy the outdoors than during the summer with your kids.  A memorable way to spend your time together is to ride bicycles and explore your neighborhood, local trails, camp grounds, or maybe even compete in a race.  I still remember the first bike my parents bought for me and the thrill, excitement, and freedom it brought.

Specialized provides quality bikes and a vast offering for all ages, heights, and styles.  This company offers road bikes, mountain bikes, BMX bikes, commuter bikes, comfort bikes, and much more.  Compared to generic bikes from big box stores, Specialized bicylces will last several generations and will hold their value.

Recently, we received a Specialized Hotrock 24 XC for our 9 year old daughter and a Specialized Hardrock Disc 26 for our 11 year old son.  These were the best bikes they have ever ridden!  Everything worked perfectly and smooth just like a finely tuned race machine.  As I was building each bike, my wife and kids were pedaling the cranks, shifting the shifters, and pulling on the brake levers.  They commented on how effortless it was to operate the bike compared to what they were used to.  Please note that when purchasing a Specialized bike from a local bike shop, it will come assembled.

Specialized Hotrock 24 XC - Many parents I know upgrade their child's bike from a 20" wheel BMX to a 26" wheel mountain bike.  Unfortunately, this is such a big jump that the larger 26" mountain bike sits unused for some time until the child grows into it.  A 24" wheel bike would be a better purchase allowing the child to enjoy the bike immediately.

The Specialized Hotrock with 24" wheels was the perfect size for my daughter.  She was able to ride it easily with the seat height close to the minimum height point.  As she gets taller, the seat height can be adjusted to fit her perfectly.

The Specialized Hotrock 24 XC is equipped with Sram Grip Shift shifters mated to Sram front and rear derailleurs and a Shimano 7 cog cassette, which enables smooth shifting in all 21 gears.  The A1 Enhanced Aluminum frame keeps the bike light at 27 lbs with the SR Suntour 50mm travel adjustable preload shocks with lockout ensuring the bike handles well in both smooth and rough terrain.  Alex HRXC Double Walled rims handles whatever abuse the bike path throws at it and the Specialized Fast Trak Sport 24x1.8 tires inspire handling confidence on or off the trail.  The brake levers are also adjustable for your child's hands which is a great feature.

Available in the color shown above:  Blk/Pink/White

Specialized Hardrock Disc 26 - This bike was perfect for my son as his first mountain bike in a size 13.  This bike comes in six sizes from 13, 15.5, 17.5, 19, 21, and 23.  Choosing the right size depends mainly on the person's height, so the taller a person is, the larger size they need for a perfect fit.

The seatpost had 2/3 more until the maximum limit so my son would be able to enjoy this bike for years to come.  He told me that the bike was "cool" and loved the black/charcoal/white color combination and how it fit him perfectly.  To tell you the truth, I wish the bike was in my size so I could ride it!

The Specialized Hardrock Disc 26 is equipped with Shimano trigger shifters mated to Shimano front and rear derailleurs and a Sun Race 8 cog cassette, which enables smooth shifts in all 24 gears.  The A1 Enhanced Aluminum frame keeps the bike light at 31 lbs with the SR Suntour XCT 80mm travel adjustable preload shocks ensuring the bike handles well in both smooth and rough terrain.  Alex HR Disc Double Walled rims handle whatever abuse the bike path throws at it and the Specialized Fast Trak Sport 26x2.0 tires inspire handling confidence on or off the trail.  Equipped with Tekro Novela Disc Brakes, braking is a one finger effort and rest assured this the bike will still stop even in wet and muddy conditions.

Available in black (shown above), red and green.

Bottom Line – Make this summer a memorable one for your family by riding Specialized bikes.  Their bikes' superb quality will ensure you focus on building happy memories instead of worrying about bike repairs with a lower quality bike.  Visit Specialized to see all of their bikes in various sizes, colors and styles perfectly suited for your type of riding.
