I really enjoy the cosmetics from Smashbox. I've never been disappointed with any of their products and I find that Smashbox is my go-to-company when I want quality products that deliver what they promise.
I received three fantastic products to review. Today I'll be talking about the Smashbox Studio Pop For Lips. Throughout the week, I'll cover the other two products so check back to read more about them.
I'm a lip gloss junkie. I can't pass up a pretty pink shade. There is something about lip gloss that is effortless and super girly. I keep glosses in my car, purse, and just about anywhere I feel I'll need a little pick me up. Lip glosses can help give you achieve that feminine, put together look in seconds.
The Studio Pop For Lips is a great little kit that includes 5 lovely shades. They arrive in a little white tin logo box with removable lid. This can be reused for other uses if you're trying to be green like me. I love packaging that serves different purposes.
The shades shown left to right above are Star, Candy, Illume, Spiceberry and Razzle.
The squeezable tube glosses are 0.19 fl. oz. The wand applicator glosses are .14 fl oz. These little glosses are great testers of color. They're also the perfect size to carry in your pocket or bag when bulk is not an option.
I've also found that I love mixing the colors to get a custom desired shade. They work well together and can give you even more shades than the five glosses provide. They also look wonderful over lipsticks you may already have.
Here are all five glosses swatched on my arm in natural light. From left to right - Star, Candy, Illume, Spiceberry and Razzle.
As you can see, Star is a translucent, shimmy shade that looks great layered over other colors. Candy is a fun pink color that happens to be one of my favorites. It looks great for everyday wear. Illume looks very nude on me - more of a my lips but better shade. I love Spiceberry. This warm brownish berry shade is very flattering on me. Razzle is a brighter, fun berry shade that is great for the holidays.
All of the glosses have shimmer to them. Not too overpowering. The glosses don't feel overly sticky or goopey. They go on nicely and effortlessly. I've have tried less sticky formulas, but the shades are what keep me coming back to Smashbox. Plus, once the gloss is on my lips, I tend to forget about the feel. Again, this gloss is not overly sticky so it's not a big deal to me.
These glosses have a light fragrance to them also. Star and Candy have a really yummy vanilla scent. Illume has a hint of vanilla scent. Spiceberry smells like cinnamon and Razzle has a hint of berry. I'm talking really light though. I can barely smell the berry. I'm not a fan of the Spiceberry spice scent, but I love the color so I continue to use it often.
These glosses are also paraben free which is HUGE plus!
If you're looking for a fun gift this holiday season, I encourage you to pick up this Smashbox Studio Pop For Lips. It would make a fabulous stocking stuffer for the beauty lover in your life. I also think this would be a nice introductory make-up set for young girls just testing out cosmetics for the first time. They would love it!
