Giveaway CHEATERS Revealed

There are a few other bloggers that have addressed cheating on their giveaway entries.  They have found numerous cheaters by checking IP addresses.  Some have even gone as far as only allowing one entry per IP address per giveaway in order to put an end to cheating on their blog.

No one has named names yet, but give it some time, perhaps cheaters will be revealed.

This makes me wonder about my giveaways.  This will NOT be tolerated and if you are in fact a cheater, please play FAIR.

  1. I hear ya. It is harder to catch cheaters on Blogger. Email me and I will give you emails of KNOWN cheaters on my Blog. I know other Bloggers are willing to do the same I bet. This is NOT tolerated! It is stealing! I've said it before. cheaters never prosper.

  3. Man, that's horrible! I had no idea. I think giveaway hosts, like Funky Monkey, give us plenty of chances to win something.

  4. So happy you posted this! There is one prson I wish the blog owners could catch. I see her or should I say him who know because she enters by both male and raven something she as been winning some big prizes too. Also uses some stupid name for the email address that is a big giveaway no matter what name is used to enter. I can't stand cheaters I have been following blogs for over two years and am a very honest and loyal person to the blogs I follow. I am very grateful for all of the hard work each and every blog owner puts into their blog! So sorry you have to deal with these cheaters :(

  5. I'm glad to see that some of you bloggers are actively trying to resolve this. I recently brought to the attention of a blogger the possibility that someone was cheating. Imagine my disappointment when I later saw that person named as a winner. When I questioned the blogger about it, she got mad at me! Makes me question her credibility...

  7. Just out of curiosity, I googled one person who was accused of cheating by using several e-mails. I found "her" in one contest with over 100 entries for a bottle of Skin MD lotion! OMG! I looked up "her" profile and it says she is a programmer. Do you think this could have been programmed to enter automatically? Why on earth would anyone spend so much time putting in 100 entries for a $5.00 bottle of lotion????

  11. I am so glad that bloggers are catching the cheaters I wish you would call them out so that if we see them entering contests elsewhere we can let the giveaway host know and maybe they would stop cheating. Another way to catch cheaters is look at the ones who enter on the last two days of the giveaways and sometimes their emails/usernames are similar and they enter within an hour of each other with similar answers. I have seen this particular person enter giveaways on the last two days and win big giveaways but they only enter those that aren't active on catching cheaters. Some giveaway host check IP address (proxy servers) and make sure they aren't foreign.

  13. I luckily haven't caught any cheaters on my blog yet - but I also don't have many giveaways. I have, however, typed in the IP address in the search button on my wp comment page to make sure they haven't entered under another name. Like I said, haven't caught anyone yet. I would love to know the names of the cheaters, too.

Why bother cheating? It's not like there aren't 1000's of contests to enter. Makes me wonder what they are like in real life, too! I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I cheated on anything - especially on a silly contest. Thanks for the reminder to check those entries, too!
