Weight Watchers Smart Ones: Live YOUR healthy life

As I get older, I know how important it is to lead a healthy lifestyle.  I'm 33 now and know I cannot eat like I did when I was a teen or in my 20s.  How in the world did I eat what I did when I was a teenager and not gain any weight?!?  Good times...good times. 

I go to the gym 3-4 days a week, take my multi vitamins and eat well.  I keep sweets and fried food to a minimum and stay active with my kids.  It all starts with the children.  It's so important to instill healthy lifestyle habits in your kids at an early age.  My husband takes my son out to the park to run and ride bikes.  My daughter loves to run, walk the dogs and ride her scooter.  Now that the weather is beautiful here in Cali, we take full advantage of it and get ourselves outside!  It's so easy to stay indoors and plant yourselves in front of the television.  Enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.  Get on your feet and get moving.  You'll feel SO much better if you do.   And your kids will enjoy spending time with you while getting exercise.

Some of my easy summer eating tips:
  • Hydrate - make sure you have a lot of water on hand.  I drink a lot of water at meals.  It helps me feel full faster and keeps my skin looking great.  Another favorite summer beverage - iced tea with lemon and Splenda.
  • Keep your plate colorful - eat lots of fruits and veggies
  • Choose lean cuts of meat - use tasty marinades
  • Grill on the BBQ - this is a favorite of ours
  • Keep your fridge stocked with healthy easy snacks -  when I get home from the store, I wash my veggies and cut them up right then and there.  This makes it so much easier to grab and go.
One thing to remember, I never deprive myself of anything.  If I have a tasty, cheesy, mexican food feast for lunch, I'll make sure I eat a healthy dinner - like a salad or chicken.  Or if I know I'll be eating a big dinner, I'll watch what I eat at breakfast and lunch.  It's about finding that healthy balance.  Once I figured this out, I've been able to maintain my desired weight.
