Non-Profit “Dress for Success” Encourages Donation of Professional Attire To Help Disadvantaged Women Thrive in the Workplace.
“S.O.S. - Send One Suit Weekend” February 19 – February 22

A job interview can be a stressful experience for anyone, but for disadvantaged women it can be even more difficult if they feel they don’t have the proper suit attire to make that crucial first impression. Dress for Success, an international non-profit organization that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women, announces February 19th – February 22nd, 2009 as their annual S.O.S - Send One Suit - Weekend® campaign. Women nationwide are encouraged to donate one new or nearly new interview suit at any dressbarn location to help other women enter the workforce and take charge of their lives. To date, more than 100,000 suits have been donated by consumers during S.O.S Week.

“One suit can truly make a difference in a woman’s life,” said Joi Gordon, Chief Executive Officer of Dress for Success Worldwide. “With the suit donation, a woman is afforded the opportunity to walk into her interview with confidence, the essential first step towards economic independence. Once the new job begins, Dress for Success gives her a network of support and the necessary career development tools to help her thrive in work and in life.”Suits are collected at dressbarn stores nationwide and distributed to over 60 Dress for Success affiliates in the United States. S.O.S Week provides, on average, more than 30% of the annual suiting needs for Dress for Success affiliates who serve more than 30,000 women each year!
